Seeking things above

Welcome!  I pray the words I write will encourage reflection within and deeper study of the Word of God, which is able to build us up, equipping us to be victorious as we journey through this earthly life.
May we all earnestly seek the things above, not the things of this world.

Keep seeking the things above, where Christ is seated at the right hand of God. Set your mind on things above, not on the things that are on earth. Colossians 3: 1-2

Tears in a bottle

There are many in my home state of Oklahoma that are hurting right now. The unthinkable, the unimaginable happened. They have lost a child. They have lost a parent, a spouse, a friend. Or they have lost their safe haven, their home. One moment the world is as it should be, then in the next heartbeat, chaos, and they are thrown into turmoil. Turmoil that causes a deep anguish, a deep ache within our souls. We just don’t understand.

And then there are those – dear friends of mine- whose life is in turmoil not due to a physical storm, but a spiritual storm. Hearts are aching, and we just don’t understand.

To those dear dear friends and to those I don’t know in Oklahoma; I care, I ache, I pray.

I pray for comfort and healing to come to you. I pray comfort will come from faith in our Creator. He aches for you too. Psalms 56: 8, says ” Thou has taken account of my wanderings, put my tears in Thy bottle, Are they not in Thy book?”

This world will bring us troubles, from the fury of nature, from the fury of sin. And it is only His comfort, His love, His grace that can sustain us. One breathe at a time…each breathe an act of faith to keep trusting. Sometimes that is all we can do. Breathe, trust, and allow faith to do it’s work within us…slowly…

                                                                  Faith heals the heart.

For whatever is born of God can overcome this world; and this is the victory that overcomes the world…our faith. And who is the one that overcomes the world, but he who believes that Jesus is the Son of God. 1 John 5: 4-5

*A note about the plaque in the picture. It was bought and  given to  a person facing a brain tumor. It was given back, when no longer needed. Then it was given to someone facing a crisis of faith, of self doubt. It was given back when no longer needed. It is now going to a person whose life is on an unexpected, unexplainable path of a loved one gone scarily astray-causing fear and pain and confusion. I pray it won’t be too long until it is no longer needed.
